Javier Aguirre: "In the first half it was our best game away from home"
The boss reflected on our 2-1 defeat to RCD Espanyol
Javier Aguirre on post-match media duties after we fell to a 2-1 defeat at RCD Espanyol. Martin Braithwaite’s goals either side of half-time cancelled out Muriqi’s fine equaliser in the first half. Find out what the boss had to say below:
Javier Aguirre:
"At half-time I told them in the dressing room that we were playing very well and that it was our best away game. In the second half the goal surprised us after a bad start. There's a very strange play. Kang in Lee swears he gets stepped on. I don't know.
“The referee is close and he decides. I don't and won't talk about referees. Then we couldn't come back. We put what we had to put on the field and it was not enough.
"Villarreal's two goals were very similar to today's, after two mistakes the two goals came. In the LaLiga you are punished a lot for that.
"Three times players of theirs went to the ground and in the end they conceded six minutes. I have nothing more to say.
"Let's see if we can take advantage of the circumstances at home and be able to score to achieve our objective as soon as possible.”
