Javier Aguirre: “We tried, but it was not meant to be”
The boss reflected on our 2-0 defeat to Getafe
Javier Aguirre spoke to the media after our 2-0 loss at Getafe. A Borja Mayoral brace saw our unbeaten run of four games come to an end following the return of domestic football. Find out what the boss had to say below:
"I think we played well in the first half, containing the opponent although we didn't generate much football.
“Then came the penalty, given and then not given. At the end of the day, in the second half and after their goal, it was a disaster.
“The team didn't recover emotionally. We left spaces. Nothing worked, but we tried. We made all the changes, we tried. The team's enthusiasm was never lost but we were already out of sorts. When we got our second, the game was over.
"We made a mistake on both goals. We gave away both goals - they were our mistakes. When you make a mistake in LaLiga, you usually lose.
"We have to keep backing everyone playing, no one stops here. We have to recover quickly, there is no time for regrets.”
