Manu Morlanes: "I was very excited about returning on Sunday"
The midfielder returned to action from a longstanding injury and discussed his comeback with club media
Manu Morlanes is back.
After suffering an injury in the semi-finals of the Super Cup last season, our midfielder returned to action against Alaves. To mark the occasion, Morlanes spoke to the media about his comeback, what the road to recovery has looked like and his aims for the rest of the season are. Find out what he had to say below:
On the recovery process: “In the first few weeks, we mainly tried to let it heal. I couldn't do much on the pitch, practically nothing. All the work was in the gym with Christian [club physio]. After the first two or three weeks, we were able to incorporate more work on the pitch and we ended up doing very similar work to the rest of the team."
On difficult moments: “Fortunately or unfortunately, I'm already seasoned in this type of situation. I've had other longer injuries. This one has not been particularly long, so being in the day-to-day with my teammates, coming to breakfast and sharing time with them makes everything more enjoyable.”
On Deportivo Alavés: “I was happy. No player likes to be away and I'm also happy for my people, because it's a month and a half, almost two, in which I've been at home and perhaps I've had more complicated moments. But well, I think it has been an injury that allows you to do other things, to focus on some other hobbies that you have and that when you are in the wheel of competition are more complicated to do. I was really looking forward to Sunday. I'm sorry we didn't get the three points, but I'm happy to be back”.
