Match Report: RCD Mallorca 1-5 FC Barcelona

The visitors’ second-half display saw us fall to a frustrating defeat

We fell to a 5-1 defeat against FC Barcelona as the visitors scored three times in the final 15 minutes.

Jagoba Arrasate named various changes to his side with the introduction of Leo Roman in goal, Vedat Muriqi returning to attack and Valery Fernandez starting out wide.

A defensive mix up in the 12th minute gifted the visitors the opener as Ferran Torres capitalised on a loose ball to fire into an empty net.

We would not go into the break a goal down as Muriqi levelled matters when a clever through ball unleashed Maffeo who pulled it back for our striker to poke home in the 42nd minute.

There would be drama after the restart as less than 10 minutes into the second half Johan Mojica fouled Yamine Lamal in the box and Raphina made no mistake from the spot.

Raphina got a second in the 74th minute when he latched onto Lamal’s whipped cross to flick the ball past Roman.

We let our concentration slip as tiredness set in as Frenkie De Jong made it four when he capitalised on a loose ball in the box to find the bottom corner.

Pau Victor completed the scoring when he finished from close range in the 84th minute after De Jong turned provider to tee him up.

Roman made a fine save in the final few minutes to deny Yamal but the evening ended in a disappointing defeat.
