Dani Rodríguez’s goal was the difference on the night as we registered our first three points of the season with a 1-0 win against Leganes.
Jagoba Arrasate handed academy starlet Marc Domenech his first senior start, while Dominik Grief returned in goal and Toni Lato started at left back.
We almost got off to a dream start when Lato’s whipped cross found Takuma Asano alone in the box, although his flicked header had too much on it and could only rattle the crossbar.
The Japanese international continued to cause problems and came close in the 23rd minute when he received the ball on the break and tested Juan Soriano at the near post.
Dani Rodríguez fired wide from distance minutes later, before a good spell ended with Soriano having to be at his best to block Vedat Muriqi from close range.
We got our reward in the 43rd minute when Muriqi climbed highest to meet Lato’s cross and head the ball across goal for Dani Rodríguez to nod home from close range.
The midfielder’s goal gave us the lead at the break following an impressive spell in the final third with various chances created.
The second half would read from a different script however as opportunities were few and far between.
New signing Robert Navarro was handed his debut later on the game as he came on for Domenech, giving our fans got a look at one of our latest additions for the first time.
A weak effort from distance would be the only work Grief had to do in the second half as we held onto our advantage and registered our first three points of the season and head into the international break.
