Javier Aguirre: “We will try to have more of the ball and apply a high press”
The boss gave his thoughts ahead of our trip to Sevilla
Javier Aguirre believes his side must be willing to adapt their playing style to get a result against Sevilla this weekend.
We head to Andalusia looking to build on our win against Real Madrid, although the boss expects a tough test – similar to the one this weekend’s hosts gave us when they visited Estadi Son Moix last year.
"I have been very attentive to the players' attitude,” Aguirre told journalists. ”It's true that it's three points, but we still have a long way to go. I didn't want, nor do I want the team to be satisfied with a good result against a very big team like Real Madrid and then get complacent and lose. If we go to Seville with a passive or relaxed attitude, they can easily take us down from there. It is in the past - now we have to think about Seville.
"The game we played in our stadium was very good and I think we will go out in the same way. We will try to have the ball longer, press high, play our football and that's the idea.
“The game here was very good and we lost, but we really played well. They scored a great goal in the corner, but I don't remember another dangerous chance from our opponents. On the other hand, I remember three very meritorious saves by Bono. That prevented us from equalising.”
