UCAM Murcia has qualified for the next round of the King's Cup after beating RCDM 1-2 at their own turf here at the Iberostar Estadio. The goals were scored by Juanma and Jesus were on target for UCAM and Diogo Salomao for Mallorca. |
Both teams faced the third round of the knock-out competition with numerous changes to their line-ups but all spared no effort.
Juanma's goal in the 5th minute was the prize for the nice teamplay exhibited by the mainland side in the first twenty minutes, when danger was a factory located in Murcia.
The Majorcan side balanced things bit by bit, through Joan Oriol and Salomao down the left wing. Juan Dominguez and Sabater in the middle kept composure and Lekic upfront did offer strength.
The Serb had two good chances to score but an inspired Fernando Martinez kept them away in the 22nd and 25th minutes.
The 1-1 equalizer came in the second act with an specular goal from Diogo Salomao, probably the best of the season so far, when his shot entered the Murcian goal like a bazooka from outside the box.
When the Majorcan side felt more comfortable and had the game under control, came Imaz's goal in the 70th minute that restored the earlier lead.
Mallorca did not cross their arms and kept trying on many occasions. The clearest was on Sabater's boots in the last minutes but Murcia defended that well and sealed their pass to the next round of the last 32 in the King's Cup.
