Mallorca have conquered their second win of the season and leaps out of the relegation zone after a staggering 3-0 v Huesca at the Iberostar Estadio with an historic hat-trick by Brandon Thomas. The Balearic team played the last 15 minutes of the game one man down after Joan Oriol was sent off. These circumstances did not alter the match.
Mallorca sealed their best performance of the season to an in-form team that was short of many starters be it for injury or for suspension.
Brandon's brace did condition the game in the first half. The academy star made the gap unreachable with his third in the 71st minute. That was such a stick on Huesca and great news for RCDM as the team in the whole season before had scored the same goals as Brandon today: three.
The Balearic team did not squander this time and left the match in a favourable position from early on. It was a key game and they couldn't fail again, also for Vazquez, who was in a sticky wicked.
It took a while for the Aragonese side to react and only reached with certain danger after the half-hour mark with two shots from Samu Saiz, their most active footballer.
Up to six players where missing from the usual Huesca starting XI that is managed by Juan Antonio Albacete 'Anquela' in their quest to get a third won game in a row. Everything clicked for Mallorca today in the first half, except for the injury of Juan Rodriguez in the 27th minute. He was subbed by Damia Sabater.
Red players performed at high level, with special recognition for Joan Oriol on the left wing, Juan Culio in the center and Brandon, Oscar and Lago upfront.
This week Vazquez's future was on the balance rope and the squad has come out to say that they want the Galician to stay put.
Mallorca gave the ball to Huesca after the break with the intention to exploit some runs in.
While Huesca were more worried about defending than attacking, Mallorca had some patience and waited for their moment, and through an inspired Brandon in the 71st minute made a hat-trick that every fan will remember for a while.
Huesca despite it all, kept pushing, especially after Joan Oriol was sent home earlier in the 76th minute, but Mallorca kept composure and sealed their second victory of the season.
