Abdon Prats and Vedat Muriqi strike in extra time to secure our passage in the Copa del Rey
Abdon Prats and Vedat Muriqi were on target in extra time as we booked our place in the round of eight in the Copa del Rey.
We almost got off to a dream start when Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta fired inches wide of the post in the seventh minute.
Martín Diz had the hosts’ best chance of the first half in the 19th minute when he struck from the edge of the box which required Dominik Grief to save well.
Amath came close in various occasions to giving us the lead before the break but we headed into the dressing room level.
The hosts started the second half the better side and almost took the lead through Miguel Román’s header not long after the restart.
Chances were few and far between as the game headed towards full time, although substitute Abdón Prats almost found a late winner with five minutes left on the clock following a neat combination with Kang-In Lee.
With the scores still level come full time, we needed extra time in order to break the deadlock.
We finally took the lead minutes after the restart when a quick break led by Vedat Muriqi resulted in the forward squaring for Abdón Prats to fire home from inside the box.
Muriqi turned from provider to goalscorer seven minutes later when Abdón returned the favour and squared for the Kosovan to find the back of the net from close range.
