We record a famous victory at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix thanks to a Nacho own goal
An own goal from Nacho saw us record a famous 1-0 victory against Real Madrid at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
Javier Aguirre made a number of changes to the starting XI, introducing Gio Gonzalez as a third centre back.
We started the better side and looked dangerous on the counter attack with Kang In Lee first to try his luck in the seventh minute, forcing Andriy Lunin into a smart stop.
We were rewarded for our early efforts in the 13th minute when Dani Rodríguez cut inside and whipped a cross into the box, only for Nacho to loop a header over his own goalkeeper under pressure from Vedat Muriqi.
Rodrygo gave us a late scare in the first half as the visitors looked to pull a goal back, but we headed into the break with a slender lead.
Despite keep Real Madrid at arm’s length with some resolute defending, the visitors were awarded a penalty in the 56th minute for a foul on Vinicius by Rajkovic, although the goalkeeper made amends for the error by getting done well to deny Marco Asensio.
Vinicius would come closest to scoring a late equaliser for the visitors, but we held on to ensure all three points remained at home and recorded our fourth consecutive win at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
