Fans returned to the Visit Mallorca Estadi for the first time in over a year as goals from Abdón Prats and Salva Sevilla helped us to a 2-0 victory over AD Alcorcón and leave us requiring just one point from our final two goals to secure the final automatic promotion spot.
Luis García Plaza made three chance to his starting XI as Fran Gámez replaced the suspended Joan Sastre, Dani Rodríguez returned at the expense of Antonio Sánchez while Franco Russo started at centre back in the absence of Antonio Raíllo.
The 4000 permitted fans made themselves heard from the first whistle following a hero’s welcome from numerous supporters outside the stadium, although it was the visitors who started the stronger side with control of possession.
Against the run of play Amath managed to get behind AD Alcorcón’s defence, but he was denied by a good save from Dani Jiménez who had got down well to tip wide.
Starting to find our rhythm, we got our breakthrough in the 40th minute through a stroke of fortune as Aguilera was adjudged to have handled Dani Rodríguez’s thumping effort inside the box. Abdón Prats was handed responsibility of the resulting penalty and made no mistake by sending Dani Jiménez the wrong way to ensure we headed into the break with the lead.
The setback just before half-time seemed to have taken the wind out of the sails of AD Alcorcón and rejuvenated Luis García Plaza’s side as progressive and attacking football followed.
We were two goals to the good in the 55th minute when a some neat-interplay on the edge of the box resulted in Salva Sevilla being slipped through on goal who, with the ball still bouncing, cheekily lobbed the on-rushing Dani Jiménez.
The visitors came close to pulling one back through a late set-piece, although we held onto to secure all three points with just one point required from our trip to CD Tenerife in a few days’ time to ensure promotion.
