Aguirre: "We must always be daring as we were against Barcelona because we have good players"
The boss looked ahead to our clash with Rayo Vallecano
Javier Aguirre believes his side must play on the front foot ahead of our trip to Rayo Vallecano.
We travel to the capital on the back of a 2-2 draw with FC Barcelona and our boss thinks his side must handle the hosts’ high pressing game.
"They are a team with high pressure, one of the best in the league," he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. "They are very daring, they don't care about the opponent and, except for that strange night against Atlético de Madrid, their results are very good.
"We are tired. It's very hot, today we had to shorten the training session because the video to analyse Rayo is long as it is a team that does things very well.
"I'm fine. I have to be fine. I'm a naturally positive person. I always try to see the good side of things. I'm fine understanding that the team has a points deficit, because six points in seven matchdays is not good. We are not doing well, but I think we are playing much better.”
Omar Mascarell and Toni Lato return to the squad, although Pablo Maffeo will be out for five or seven weeks.
Having had the support of over 20,000 fans in the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix against FC Barcelona, our boss took a moment to discuss the atmosphere at home.
“It is sensational. People are happy, they always demand more, but they are happy. My philosophy is maximum respect for the sovereignty of the stadium.”
