Aritz Aduriz visits the construction site at the Visit Mallorca Estadi

Our former striker checked in to see how the stadium is progressing

Aritz Aduriz says the renovated Visit Mallorca Estadi is going to be “spectacular” following a recent visit to the redevelopment.

The first phase of the project got underway this summer and will include the construction of a new Tribuna Este that will host around 6,500 spectators and a roof.

"I was very excited to come and see how the construction was going,” said the former RCD Mallorca striker. “The stadium is looking spectacular. Obviously, it is a long process until everything is finished, but the initial impact of the stands being so close is going to be an incredible leap forward for the club, the team and the fans. It's going to be spectacular.

"The adrenaline that you can generate in the match is infinitely higher, and that gives much more to the local team than to the visiting side. This is going to help Mallorca a lot.”

Aduriz visited the construction with Alfonso Díaz, Business CEO of RCD Mallorca, and head architect Izaskun Larzábal.

"After a summer of a lot of work, everyone working long hours and, in the heat, receiving illustrious visits like Aduriz's is a shock,” said Larzába. “They are people who are interested in the work, who are interested in what is being created and this is an added motivation. Seeing people who have given everything for the club and who are a so recognised in sports are interested in the project, it is a good sign for us.”
