CEO Alfonso Díaz and Director of Football Pablo Ortells evaluate the transfer market
Our CEO and Director of Football held a remote press conference at the Visit Mallorca Estadi to discuss club investment and transfers
Director of Football Pablo Ortells and CEO Alfonso Díaz have reflected on club investment and finance during a remote press conference held following transfer deadline day.
We’ve strengthened our squad with six new players in the form of Braian Cufré, Brian Oliván, Murilo, Jordi Mboula, Marc Cardona and Amath Ndiaye, and Ortells says he couldn’t be happier with the latest arrivals.
“We believe that we have a balanced squad and that it will enable us to fight for our goals," he told journalists. "We have the highest of aspirations. We have one space free in the squad [registration], but consider the team to be done.
“Amath and Cardona are two players who are delighted to come join our project and will give it their all on the pitch. The players that are here want to be here and fight for the club's goals until the end. It has been an atypical market within the complex global and economic situation owed to COVID-19.”
Díaz went onto share the club has received a further eight million euros worth of investment from our ownership group, a figure which now totals an outlay of 42 million euros since our takeover four years ago.
“The capital increase demonstrates the ownership’s long-term commitment," Díaz said. "It must be remembered that 16 million euros has been assumed from accreditors in addition to this, and that has been a huge task and commitment to the club. It's a contribution towards the improvement of the squad for both this season and the next. The owners have been with us throughout the transfer market, working alongside all of us. We were able to consider all potential options on the table together.
“The support of the fans must also be appreciated by the club," the CEO continued on the topic of season-ticket members. "Not knowing when they're going back to the stadium, they've responded in a spectacular way. Clubs are working on people being able to return, even if it is staggered. Everything is being done in conversation with the CSD.”
