The first-team squad and manager have agreed to take a 15% annual pay reduction should competitive football not resume this season
In such unprecedented moments of struggle and suffering by many amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Real Club Deportivo Mallorca would like to express its solidarity with fans across the world, gratitude to emergency workers and condolences to those who have passed away.
Although we all miss the joy and excitement of the game we love, our priority remains the health and wellbeing of players, staff, fans and the wider public as we face one the most significant public emergencies in recent times.
However, the sport itself is not resistant to the impact and challenges a global pandemic presents; and the suspension of competitive football has therefore enforced a reassessment of the financial expectations with all eventual possibilities considered.
Following internal discussions, the club has reached an agreement with the senior squad and first-team manager to reduce annual salary by 15% in the event La Liga does not resume the 2019/20 season. Real Club Deportivo Mallorca’s board of directors would like to express their gratitude to the first-team squad and manager for their exemplary generosity. In keeping with such conviction, the board of directors have also undertaken a reduction of remuneration on their behalf.
Those who represent the club both on and off the pitch have acted with great benevolence, unity and selflessness, in addition to upholding the values Real Club Deportivo Mallorca prides itself upon throughout a pursuit to maintain the club’s future viability and protection of staff.
The club and its employees will also actively participate in the ‘Guanyarem’ campaign led by the Fundació Reial Mallorca to help support food banks throughout the island and communities affected by COVID-19.
