Damià: “the second division requires you to compete wholeheartedly"
The youth product stated that he would fight for his place in the team
Damia Sabater spent some time with the press this morning and said that the first team´s objectives for this season are to compete in the playoff for promotion, especially since last season “we failed to compete in a few matches.”
In that respect the youth product recalled that in the first preseason game, against Sint Truiden, “we played 65 minutes a man down and we still got through it. The second division requires you to complete to the max. We have to win as many points as possible.”
The Palma local confirmed that it is positive that the team is almost complete, “this perpetuates us to be more competitive. As of now, after the first game, we feel good because there will be more friendlies that serve to guide us to a proper start against Reus.”
About the team, he highlighted how quickly the new players are acclimating, “I see the new guys very comfortable, as if they had been here for a few months or years, and this is vital because it transmits onto the playing field.” So, he remarked about the attitudes of the more experienced signings, “despite their age and amount of experience they bring, they come here to work hard. They have so much to contribute to the team.”
And personally, the player assured that he is doing quite well, “I have installed new batteries and I want to prove to the coach that he can count on me to have a good season and that I intend to rise up to the primera division.” Finally, Damia denied that he is scared of the competition for places after the big summer signings, “it is clear that it will be complicated to earn playing time this year. I am not going to make things easy for the coach or my colleagues. They bring many years of professional soccer experience, and I can learn a lot from them, but I am going to fight for my place. I am not here to sit on the bench this season.”
