Match Report: Real Valladolid 3-3 RCD Mallorca

We leave it late to secure a dramatic point with Manu Moralanes and Vedat Muriqi scoring

Vedat Muriqi’s brace and Manu Moralanes’ first goal for the club saw us secure a dramatic point against Real Valladolid.

With six players unavailable due to suspension and injury, Javier Aguirre named a rotated side as Moralanes and Dennis Hadžikadunić were handed debuts.

Despite having the better opportunities during the opening exchanges, the hosts had the majority of possession as we struggled to get hold of the ball.

The first chance of the game went our way as Jaume Costa raced in behind and before firing the ball over the bar in the 19th minute.

Amath was next to go close after Pablo Maffeo slipped him in behind five minutes later.

Real Valladolid took the lead against the run of play as Kike Pérez found the back of the net with an unstoppable drive in the 32nd minute.

We were the better side after the restart and found ourselves level in the 52nd minute when Muriqi headed home Maffeo’s cross.

We had successfully turned the game on its head five minutes later when Moralanes reacted first to a loose ball from a set-piece and hit the target from outside the box.

Substitute Selim Amallah had an instant impact with one of his first touches in the 67th minute when he levelled the scoreline.

The hosts thought they had found a late winner in the 86th minute when Monchu headed home Kenedy’s cross.

There was to be some late drama in injury time when Cyle Larin handled in the box and we awarded a penalty.

Muriqi held his nerve from the spot to ensure we registered an important point.
