A day to recuperate. After the game yesterday and a week of long, intense training, the team took a day to charge the batteries and regain energy. The program included only a morning session, with gym work and a light run, leaving the players with a free afternoon.
This day was unique because the players did not touch a soccer or medicine ball. Apart from the vital recuperation, these days serve to strengthen the bonds within the group, which in my opinion, is reflected on the field. Surely it could be, but right now I cannot remember a single successful team with a bad attitude in the locker room.
The majority of the players spent the afternoon at in the town of Sittard and part of the coaching staff and coordinators touched a ball and played basketball. Without saying too much, Ivan Campo continues to maintain the same “forcefulness” of yesteryear and had more fouls than points.
The dinner was more eventful. We had the first duet performance by the newbies to their comrades, which was a jovial delight. Antoine sang while Fernando Cano and Alberto danced. We will not make any judgements.
It was then the time for the players to get to know each other, telling stories, jokes, and rumors alike. It was a day of laughs, and a day of knowing who you will go into battle with. So the group goes on in search of one common goal: promotion.
