We are delighted to announce that Gio González has agreed a new contract with the club that will run until 2026.
Our defender has made 39 appearance since joining in 2022’s January transfer window, scoring one goal and registering two assists.
The Uruguayan has played in a number of roles in defence and has become an important part of our first-team squad.
In what is a first for the club, we announced his renewal through a video the WhatsApp group 'Patidors de Son Moix'.
"The truth is that I am happy,” he told club media. “Very happy, because it is a reason that the club trusts me. I am very grateful. They opened their doors to me from the first moment and made me feel at home.
“When I received the renewal proposal I didn't have to think about it much, neither myself nor my family. They also feel very comfortable here on the island. It is a beautiful city, a club that is growing from strength to strength. I am very happy for the renewal and I hope it will be many more years.
"How we stayed up last year will stay with me. They are the most euphoric moments and the ones we have all enjoyed the most.
"I like to set myself big challenges. I think the club is growing and that's good, why not fight for bigger things? We all know that the goal is permanence, but in a few years I see the club fighting for even bigger things."
