Javier Aguirre: “We are going with respect but knowing we have to do a good job”

The boss spoke to the media ahead of our trip to FC Barcelona

Javier Aguirre believes his side will have to be at their best to get a result against FC Barcelona.

We will be looking to build on a good run of form of late, and the boss wants to see his side head to Camp Nou without any fear.

“It is true that FC Barcelona have two consecutive defeats at home, against two opponents against whom they should have won, but we do not trust them at all,” he told the media. “We have a deep respect for FC Barcelona.

"The need we have forces us to play without mistakes. Even so, with this rival, that doesn't guarantee anything. It has to be noted that we are in great need.”

Returning to Spanish football having spent last season in his native Mexico, Aguirre is keen to break an unwanted personal record against FC Barcelona.

"I've never won at Camp Nou but statistics are there to be broken," he continued. "With the arrival of Xavi, FC Barcelona is very intense. Barça's style has been maintained.

“It's a team that plays by heart. They have improved their high pressing after losing.”
