Johan Mojica: “The group understanding has been very good, I'm happy”

Our new full back looked ahead to our clash with CA Osasuna

Johan Mojica says he has integrated well into the squad following his move to the club this summer ahead of our clash against his old side CA Osasuna.

New manager Jagoba Arrasate also returns to the club he previously managed, but our full back says he is keen to build on his impressive debut against Real Madrid.

Find out what Johan had to say below:

On the debut against Real Madrid: “The truth is that I was very focused on doing my job well and in the end, whenever you make your debut at a club you always want to do a good job. More than good, I would say. So that's how it turned out. I've been in LaLiga for years, in several teams, and I wanted to make a good presentation to myself, to the coaching staff, to the club that has put their trust in me and to the fans, who were exceptional. I was very happy with my performance in all facets: defensively, in terms of playmaking and offensively.”

On adaptation: "I am very happy. The adaptation is very easy because it is very similar to what I am and to what my homeland is like. The climate, the people are very nice... it's a paradise on earth and I'm very happy here. The club is very organised and is going upwards. In the end, the most important thing is the football level. I know the coaching staff very well, I've played with team-mates who are at the club and the understanding at group level has been very good. I'm happy.”

On CA Osasuna: “Osasuna is a team that has shaped me a lot into who I am personally. I was very happy in Pamplona. I am very grateful to the city, the fans and it is a team that, as the motto says, never gives up. It's something I have ingrained in me and going to Pamplona again makes me very happy and I have a lot of respect and admiration for the club, the city, the people... and now that I'm facing them on matchday two, it's very special for me.”

On what CA Osasuna’s strengths are: “I have very good references to those who play in my area - the ones I would have to play against if I were to play. But in general I know them all very well. They have that grit, that identity and attitude on the pitch and then the technical and tactical ability to express themselves in footballing terms. I respect them a lot, they are excellent players and now it's time, as we say in Colombia, with papa and yuca (to give everything) as we face them."
