Luis García Plaza: ‘I place importance on the team’s performance, not the automatic play-off spot’

The boss reflected on our 3-0 win over SD Ponferradina in his post-match press conference

Luis Garía Plaza was on press conference duties following our 3-0 win over SD Ponferradina at the Visit Mallorca Estadi. Moving into second position at the end of the Matchday 11 and extending our unbeaten run to 10 games, the boss reflected on our performance, three points and next week’s trip to Girona CF:

On the game...

“I’m happy because today we have been assertive when on other days we haven’t. Up until 2-0, we had had three shots. In the second half they could have scored, but so could we. I didn’t like the first ten minutes of the game. We lost many balls, but at 2-0 we had good phases. The important thing is that the team now has 22 points and today's game was a must win.

On rotation...

“The rotation is about the load of each game. When it’s week by week, we will repeat the line-up more often, but that does not mean there won’t be changes. When we look at the Girona CF, we will see who is doing better.

On the team...

“In the end, teams above us are going to have better or worse games, but the team has it’s own style of play. That's important and what I've been looking for since we got here. Every point is fought for and the team has an incredible working dynamic.

On Manolo Reina...

“Manolo has made two good stops. Today he has shown what it means to be a good goalkeeper. Whenever we talk about keeping clean sheets it’s the work of the whole team, but today Manolo has done a great job.

On going second and travelling to Girona CF...

“I don’t attach any importance to being in the automatic promotion spots. What I think it important is that we’ve gone 10 games unbeaten and the team’s level. Everyone has run and given everything. That’s the good thing we have. Two tough teams coming up, but Girona CF will be the first and we are focused on them. Winning there would give the team a push up the table.”
