Luis García Plaza: “I’m going to demand 100% from myself and those around to achieve the best results"
The new manager spoke to the media in his first press conference at the Visit Mallorca Estadi
Luis García Plaza says he can’t wait to get started at RCD Mallorca following his appointment as first-team manager.
The former Levante UD, Getafe CF and Villarreal CF boss was presented to the media for the first time following the announcement of his two-year contract and while Plaza says the objective is clear for his new side, it will require the right attitude.
"I’m very excited and happy to be here,” he told journalists. “I’m looking forward to starting work on Monday. I'm going to demand 100% from myself and everyone around me to get the best results. I want a happy, daring and brave team, but also one which is compact within an order. Where you have to win is on the pitch and to do that we need a team which is competitive and believes in an idea and more.
“The Segunda División has changed, but so have we. I consider myself a much better coach than when I was promoted with Levante UD 10 years ago. We have to set ourselves a path with an end goal that is La Liga, but it's going to be the first and last time I talk about this goal because the journey is long. Step by step, we have to build a team that in the day-to-day will take us to that end goal."
Plaza has named Pedro Rostoll as his assistant manager, Félix Vicente Head of Fitness and Raúl Gallego first-team senior analyst, and Head of Football Pablo Ortells says fans can get excited for what our new management can achieve in the future.
“Luis García Plaza is an experienced and knowledgeable coach who shows his passion for football in day-to-day life. He will be in charge of leading the team for this new project.”
