Luis García Plaza: ‘I’ve haven’t enjoyed myself like this in a long time’
The boss spoke to the media ahead of our final game of the season against SD Ponferradina
Luis García Plaza says his side are ready for the final game of the season as we travel to SD Ponferradina on Sunday evening.
Having already secured automatic promotion, we could be crowned champions should other results go our way this weekend, although the boss believes his team should not forget the season they have had should we have to settle for runners up.
"First, there are the things that depend on you,” he told journalists via a remote press conference. “First of all, to have conceded the least in the competition. And secondly, to repeat the total of the first round. Another objective, obviously, is to be champions.
"In this case it also depends on what Girona does. It would be a fitting tribute to the players [to be champions]. They’ve made me enjoy things like I haven’t in a long time and it reminds me of the times at Levante. If we’re unable to complete any of those goals, we'll go on vacation and enjoy ourselves. To be able to go to this last game with the satisfaction of everything we have achieved is very nice.”
Having guided Levante to promotion earlier in his career, the García reflected on his previous experiences in management.
“I see a lot of similarities between this dressing room and the one at Levante. In the second division, having a good dressing room is very important and this year I have felt similar things to those of that time. I have seen a maximum involvement.
"We didn't play the same way, but we have very healthy people, with a desire to push and be receptive. I have enjoyed things a lot on a personal and sporting level. Next year we will surely suffer more defeats than victories, but hopefully we will also achieve our objectives.”
