Luis García Plaza: ‘The team away from home plays like clockwork, I hope it continues’

The boss spoke to media in his post-match press conference following our win at Rayo Vallecano

The boss had plenty to be cheerful about as we recorded our first win of the new year with a 3-1 victory at Rayo Vallecano courtesy of a clinical opening 20 minutes where Amath Ndiaye, Abdón Prats and Salva Sevilla hit the target. Find out what the boss had to say about the performance, our form and Fran Gamez’s injury:

On the performance...
“There have been two key parts: we have played well for 25 minutes and we have been close to scoring. From there, with the scoreline at 3-0, we have been the worse side for a while. Rayo Vallecano made us suffer. In the second half, we have controlled things well. They haven’t created chances and we have continued coming close to a fourth. We have had 25 really good minutes, 20 minutes suffering and a good second half.”

On away form...
"The team away from home is like clockwork, I hope it continues. Away from home we’re very good and we defend very well. Teams that play at home normally come at the opposition and we benefit from that when we have the ball for a while. When we play at home, teams often close up and it’s more complicated."

On Fran Gámez’s injury...
"It’s a shame for Fran as he was very motivated. I hope that I’m mistaken and the injury is less than it appears."
