Luis García Plaza: ‘We have to go with everything to win against Las Palmas’
The manager spoke to journalists at his pre-match press conference ahead of our clash with the islanders
Luis García Plaza expects Las Palmas to provide a difficult test as we look to register our first win of the new year at the Visit Mallorca Estadi on Sunday afternoon.
Having returned from the Christmas break with a hard-fought 2-2 against Real Oviedo and a penalty shootout defeat to CF Fuenlabrada in the Copa del Rey, the boss has given his assessment on Matchday 21’s opposition as we reach the halfway point in the domestic campaign.
"They’re a team who plays well, first of all because they have a coach who likes to play well and second because they have good players,” he told journalists via a remote press conference. “They have a lot of quality and a lot of confidence.
“I think we have to continue along our way of working, respecting them and going after them. I hope we can win and get to 45 points to finish a first half of the season in a truly outstanding way.”
Our third game in the space of a week as the squad battles injuries, infection and suspension, Luis García Plaza has been impressed with how his side have responded to tough circumstances.
"The team is well. I think we have to trust in them. There are things to correct but we have to give the players a vote of confidence. They’re doing very well and are giving us a lot of joy.
“We’re on 42 points. We have to be proud of the players and transmit to them all that all the support Mallorquinistas have. We’re going to correct mistakes and we’re going to go all out against Las Palmas.”
