Maffeo, Morlanes, Lato and Jagoba Arrasate analysed the defeat against Alaves

Find out what the boss and his played had to say about the defeat

Pablo Maffeo:

On the match: First of all a lot of encouragement to the people of Valencia. In Mallorca I hope nothing happened, many of us have family and friends in Valencia. The first thing is this: the people. On the game we are obviously sad to come here and lose after the good dynamics we had been having. A very tough game, but we have to continue.

On the defeat: I don't know if I should call it luck. We had our chances and they got the goal from a rebound. Everything went uphill and nothing, in the end we have to keep going. I have full confidence in this team.

On match fixtures: I don't think so, new legs have come in, but it's the same as always. Whoever sets the schedules and matches should take a look at it. I think they look more for the money than for us. It is the same as always. We will continue, the next match is on Sunday and we have many days to recover, rest, clean our minds and prepare for the match.

Jagoba Arrasate:

On the match: We played a bad match. We weren't comfortable at any moment and when it looked like we could have at least taken a point, which would have been a good result, we had that unfortunate play.

On Valery: We had the idea of threatening from that left flank with his speed but he felt a puncture in the warm-up and we had to make the change at the last moment. A pity for him too.

On direct play: They pressed well and there was space at the back but we didn't take advantage of it. When we thought that with the changes we would have more options, that goal came and changed the script of the match.

On rest days: We arrived at this match with just enough rest after playing on Monday. There were some players who were not ready to start and some others who were not ready to play. Now we have time to prepare well for the match with our people.

Manu Morlanes:

On match: I think that in football, the result is always a determining factor. There are days when doing the same thing the result is in your favor and others when it's not. It's true that it wasn't our best match. It's time for self-criticism, to see what we lacked to achieve something more, but I don't think this is the time to beat ourselves up. Yesterday we were not so good and today we were not so bad.

On feelings: In attack we were not at all good. They hurt us with their direct play and it was hard for us to get there. We didn't have that clarity that we had on other days.

On physical fatigue: We're tired, I don't know who sets the LaLiga schedules, but playing on a Monday and a Friday with the number of teams is a bit strange. We are professionals and there are teams that play every three days and we are not going to use that as an excuse. Alavés played a good game, they beat us and that's it.

On the next match: It's time to stop, to see that we haven't done as well as we have done in other matches. We have to keep growing, the path is the right one and the team is doing well. We have a large squad, whoever plays always performs.

Toni Lato:

On the events of the day: My cousins have suffered more closely all this. I would have liked to be with them to help them. It is very difficult to explain the situation, especially to give a hug to the family of a colleague who will be missing and also to give a lot of encouragement to all the families affected. Regarding the match, it was very even, both teams had the chance to win and in the end one action decided the match.
