Marc Cardona returns to training after recovering from COVID-19

The striker has had to self isolate for the past month following a positive test recorded after the winter break

We’re delighted to announce Marc Cardona has returned to full training following his recovery from COVID-19.

The striker has been hard at work at home over the course of the past month having tested positive over the winter break, but says he is keen to make up for lost time.

“I notice it having been out,” he told club media. “With COVID-19, I was bad for a few days but then I got better, although I had to wait a long time to return. It’s been complicated. I came back from an injury and wanted to re-join the team, but when I came back from the Christmas break, I tested positive. After being in self-isolation for 10 days, there was no way to test negative.

“There are people who have had it much worse than me, I only had symptoms for two days without even having a fever. I lost my sense of smell, suffered from dizziness and was in bed for two days. The fact I joined the team a month late (Cardona was a deadline day signing), I was available for a month and then got injured. It’s been almost two months without being in the team, but now the most beautiful part remains and we hope everything goes well.

Ending a winless run of three games with a swashbuckling 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano as the second half of the season gets underway, the centre forward has kept a close eye on the team from home.

“The victory at Vallecas [against Rayo Vallecano] reaffirms that the games before were accidents. If the team does its job, it can reach its objective.”
