Mallorca B travels back from Gava with a point in a difficult pitch. The Red side went to La Boblia with the intention to bounce back after last week’s defeat and show how the team is evolving. The Catalan have only drawn in this league, four in a row, this time against our academy team.
The lack of accuracy has been maintained for the full 90 minutes and the visitors were favourite to get the lead on many occasions. The first chances were for Mallorca B which could have broken the balance. Mallorca B have trouble reached the goal of defensive sides. Gava have kept their lines together and has blocked wing runs, where our academy normally excels at.
Many players have been booked in the second half for their harsh tackles. In the 93th minute the Reds’ forward Nico Kata has been sent off because he swore to the referee.
The academy side has been able to keep a clean sheet but has to be on lookout for mistakes, for them not to resurface again as they penalize the team so strongly. One has come back to the league starting XI and has played full 90 minutes after 8 months of recovery. For the team this are jolly good news as Olaizola needed a strong centreback that provides this solidity and experience that no other player can.
Four points so far, a victory and a draw. RCD Mallorca B will receive Barça B on Sunday at the Antonio Asensio Training Complex. But before that, will travel to Ibiza for the second leg of the FA Cup tie against Penya Esportiva. On aggregate at the moment, Mallorca are ahead by a 2-0 obtained in Son Bibiloni.
