Match report: RCD Mallorca 0-1 Sevilla

Nemanja Gudelj’s second-half goal gives the visitors on a frustrating night

Nemanja Gudelj’s second-half strike was the difference on an evening which saw us fall to a 1-0 defeat against Sevilla FC.

Javier Aguirre replaced the suspended Vedat Muriqi with Abdón Prats while Iddrisu Baba started in a midfield which also featured Íñigo Ruiz de Galarreta.

The completed Tribuna Este at the Visit Mallorca Estad debuted for the first time with home and away fans present as we were the better side during the opening exchanges.

Abdón Prats had an early chance to give us the lead when he latched onto a teasing cross but he was denied by Yassine Bono who was quick off his line to tip wide.

We had a couple of half chances which did not test Bono while managing to keep the hosts as bay with our defensive structure, but headed into the break level.

While the visitors maintained control of possession but were left frustrated at being unable to get in behind our defence, Jorge Sampaoli’s side were reduced to efforts from distance.

It was one of these strikes that would eventually cost our side as Gudelj found the back of the net from 30 yards with an unstoppable drive in the 53rd minute.

We did our best to get back into the game and a late surge saw Angel have an effort cleared off the line, but we were unable to draw level and ended the night with a loss.
