We record our first three points in front of and home crowd thanks to Pablo Maffeo’s goal
Pablo Maffeo’s first-half header gave us our first three points of the season at the Visit Mallorca Estadi as we recorded a 1-0 win against UD Almería.
Javier Aguirre was forced into a last-minute change to his starting XI as Matija Nastasić was replaced by Jose Copete.
Despite being the better side during the opening exchanges, we were unable to create any opportunities of note.
Maffeo gave us the lead in the 24th minute when he ghosted in at the back post to meet Copete’s defleced cross into the box and head home.
We almost doubled our advantage before the break when Clement Grenier flashed the ball across the box, although Vedat Muriqi was unable to convert and fired high and wide.
Predrag Rajkovic was called into the action not long after the break to make a smart stop from distance, but we managed to limit the visitors to a handful of half opportunities.
With just a few minutes left on the clock, Maffeo proved to be decisive at both ends of the pitch when he made a goal-line clearance following a loose ball in the box.
We managed to weather the storm and held on to ensure that three points stayed at home for the first time this week.
