We returned to winning ways and took a huge step towards securing an automatic play-off spot as we overcame CD Mirandés 2-1 courtesy of Abdón Prats and an own goal at the Visit Mallorca Estadi.
Luis García Plaza made three changes to the starting XI which had lost CE Sabadell five days prior. Abdòn led the line in place of Álvaro Giménez, while Antonio Sánchez replaced Briain Cufré and Aleksandar Sedlar started in midfield in the absence of the injured Iñigo Ruiz De Galarreta.
Quick turnovers of possession and breaks forward were a regular feature in the opening exchanges as Abdón gave the visitors an early warning in the 13th minute when some clever thinking from Salva Sevilla and Joan Sastre at a free-kick almost allowed the striker to latch onto the right back’s cross into the box.
Cristo almost provided an immediate response with CD Mirandés first chance of the game five minutes later, although he was unable to get his attempt on target.
Abdón and Dani Rodríguez were next to try their luck in quick succession, although neither player was able to test Raul Lizoain.
We would finally get our reward before the break as Abdón reacted first to a loose ball in the box to give us the lead on the stroke of half-time.
The visitors started the stronger side after the break, but despite their possession, our resolute defending kept any potential danger at bay.
Against the run of play, we doubled our advantage when Vivian turned the ball past his own goalkeeper after deflecting Abdón’s strike in the 51st minute.
A fine individual effort from Djouahra pulled a goal back for the visitors and ensured a tense finale, although we held onto our lead to secure all three points.
