Aleksandar Sedlar’s brace and goals from Jordi Mboula, Pep Gayá, Javi Llabrés and Ángél saw us overcome UD Llanera 6-0 and secure our place in the next round of the Copa del Rey in style.
Luis García Plaza name a much changed starting XI to the side which drew 0-0 to Celta Vigo six days prior. Youth goalkeeper Leo Roman was handed his senior debut, while Take Kubo made his first start since injury and was joined by academy graduate Gayá.
Despite the scoreline, we struggled to break down the hosts resolute defence in the first half.
The best chance of the opening 45 minutes would fall to Abdón Prats, but he was unable to steer Antonio Sanchez’s cross past the hosts’ goalkeeper.
UD Llanera tested the young Román on a handful of occasions as the shot stopper was called into the action close to half-time, but we headed into the break goalless.
The deadlock would remain for four more minutes after the restart as Sedlar scored his first goal for the club when he met Kubo’s cross unmarked.
Mboula doubled our lead five minutes later when he managed to make space for himself to get a shot away inside the box.
Our third goal seemed to take any hope of a comeback away from the hosts as Sedlar completed his brace with another header from a Kubo corner in the 64th minute.
Academy graduate Gayá scored his first senior goal for the club when he capitalised on yet another corner to head home with 16 minutes remaining.
Not to be out done by his RCD Mallorca B team-mate, Llabrés also opened his senior goalscoring account with a composed finish three minutes later.
Ángél put the finishing touch to a fine performance with his third goal in the Copa del Rey to ensure we headed into the next round of the tournament in style.
