Oriol: “although it will not be easy, we have the opportunity to break the negative run on the road”

The side-back hails the good vibe in the dressing room and thanks the fans for their support

Joan Oriol has taken the press room chair today morning and has first of all hailed the good vibe in the dressing room, “these players are like a family, we all lean on one another for support and we respect each other”. Toward the weekend’s meeting with bottom team Nastic from Tarragona he said “it is a good opportunity to break our horrific run on the road and for the first team get two wins in a row”.

The left-back in this sense has pointed out how two straight victories could “give them such a rush coupled with an actual jump in the table. We have to show personality on Sunday and be concentrated from the start”. However, Oriol has warned about how dangerous this rival is. “Their table position is not relevant as the have only lost one game at home. If we do as we must we can win but we have to be a solid side”.

The Catalan has some doubts as to why the team’s performance reduces drastically when they travel, “I don’t know, maybe we lack ambition, we come out a very rigid. We got to change that mentality and go for the game. It is not an attitude problem, but who knows, maybe a bit of more concentration there wouldn’t hurt. We got to show what we’re made of and come out for the three points away from our stadium. We gotta fight for the full 90 minutes”.

In what regards the fans, Joan, at personal level, said “I cannot complain whatsoever about that. They had it and it’s logic, but this year they’re responding pretty well and at the pitch we feel that warmth. Hopefully this will be our year and we can do something special, something that’ll make them happy”.

Lastly, about Club stakeholder Steve Nash’s participation in our of the first team training sessions, Oriol said: “it’s been an incredible experience. He’s a very normal kind of guy. Very simple, close to the people. He has transmitted us his route to success and how he started off. He has got involved with the team and has given to us footballers and employees at the Club a message of calm. This group of people at the helm of the Club are now doing things in the right direction. We have to look no further than the training facilities. Very few clubs, apart from the obvious big ones, have something similar to this.”
