Miquel Toni Gelabert has been appointed as our new Fútbol Base Director and will oversee the development of academy football at the club.
The 30-year-old had previously contributed to our youth system as Fútbol 11 Co-Ordinator, but says he’s excited to take on a further responsbilities following his promotion.
“This appointment is a professional and personal challenge for me and shows the confidence the club has in empowering and giving opportunities to people that are already inside the club,” he told club media. “Attention to kids won’t drop and is the most important element of everything at the Fútbol Base.
“The principal objective is the first-team is composed of players formed here in the youth system. However, the short-term goal is to a create a sense of belonging, and that goes for the managers as it does for the players and families.”
Working in unison with Gelabert in regards to the continued progression of our youth players, Director of Football, Pablo Ortells, has underlined the significance of an in-house appointment.
“Miquel Toni is prepared for this challenge,” Ortells told club media. “We’re backing the people that are at the club, the professionals that work at the club, know it well and are capable of taking on these types of responsibilities.”
