RCD Mallorca succumb to a frustrating 1-0 defeat at CD Leganés

RCD Mallorca's run of back-to-back victories ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at CD Leganés.
Los Bermellones headed to Estadio Municipal de Butarque looking to record their first away win of the season, but with both sides unable to hit their stride from the get-go, the opening exchanges heralded few goal-scoring opportunities.
A stinging effort from Dani Rodríguez outside the box would ultimately be Ivan Cuéllar’s only save of the first half as the hosts’ resolute defence proved to be a constant source of frustration for Vicente Moreno’s men.
Martin Braithwaite broke the deadlock with the game’s first real opportunity just after the half-hour mark, heading home Roberto Rosales’ cross at the back post against the run of play.
The break gave RCD Mallorca the chance to re-group following the setback, but with little avail in the final third after the restart, Moreno looked to his bench for Take Kubo and then Aleksandar Trajkovski to make a difference.
Chasing the game as minutes ebbed away, the visitors were fortunate not to have been dealt a killer blow when Braithwate struck the underside crossbar from a few yards out. A matter of inches would in turn work out of favour for Antonio Raillo and Trajkovski as their efforts in added time went wide.
Despite a trip to the capital ending in a disappointing defeat, RCD Mallorca will have little time to dwell on the loss with Osasuna visiting Son Moix in five days’ time.
