RCD Mallorca’s 1000th first division game ends in 3-0 defeat to Real Valladolid
Los Bermellones endured a difficult afternoon at Estadio José Zorrilla despite a positive first-half performance
RCD Mallorca were unable to mark their 1000th game in the first division with three points as we endured a frustrating 3-0 defeat at Real Valladolid.
In what was our third fixture in eight days, a much-changed starting XI - including debutant Fabricio and a first league start for Marc Pedraza – began proceedings on the front foot.
Of the early chances created the best fell to Ante Budimir, although the striker was unable to convert the moment’s space Dani Rodriguez’s clever reverse pass had afforded him in the box.
Despite the momentum Vicente Moreno’s side had been building towards prior to the break, we went into half-time a goal down after Joaquin had climbed highest at a corner to head home.
Things went from bad to worse five minutes following the restart as Enes Unal converted from the spot after Fabricio was adjudged to have fouled the goalscorer in the box.
Substitute Abdon Prats came closest to pulling a goal back with a low drive in the 78th minute, but the final whistle blew with the hosts having added a third via Sandro Ramírez in added time.
