Salva Sevilla: ‘The best vaccine we have right now is to staying at home’

The midfielder spoke to the RCD Magazine about the Covid-19 crisis and life at home with his young children

Salva Sevilla says while he misses the dressing atmosphere and his team-mates, health must be priortised over the return of football amid the Covis-19 outbreak.

Following weeks of individual training, the recent introduction of team sessions held by videocall has helped maintain dressing room comradery during a difficult time according to the midfielder.

“You miss being with your team-mates on a daily basis and playing game, but for now this the least important thing,” he told RCD Magazine. “The issue out on the streets is the priority which we must solve and the best medicine we have at the moment is to stay all at home.

“I think it is the best way to work because exercising alone is more difficult. Days were accumulating and it was difficult to keep that same motivation for training. Now we see each other's faces, we can talk and make jokes. They’ve been really successful.”

Kept in good company with his family at home during the lockdown, Sevilla says he can sympathise with what children are going through.

“In the mornings I do my training and, in the afternoons, I play a little football at home with my son. He is four-years-old and is not very aware of what is happening. He never tires of asking me when he will be able to train again with his friends from the RCD Mallorca Foundation. He misses them a lot. It’s very difficult for them and we hope everything will be solved as soon as possible.”
