Fernando Vazquez has met the press alter the morning’s sesion and has said the team’s “focused on the win. Zaragoza is not a superior or different team. They used to be as they were newly relegated, but they are like us now”. In this sense, given the consistency of the team at home, the manager thinks it’s difficult for them to lose. “I think we have lots of chances to win, I believe in my players and I’m sure they gonna give their all. I have faith in the victory to get those seven points out of the last possible nine.”
The Galician repeated that his wish is that team goes on a good run that will allow the team to climb up positions in the table. “The second division is very level as all teams show a very similar standard, but if you manage to get a decent run you go straight up. In the same way, if you lose two back-to-back games you slip in the table quite a bit. I hope we get this decent run that will see us up there.”
The manager praised the team’s work “at home we’re confident and I think the team’s working well. It’s possible that I make some changes with respect to last week. But the strategy will remain the same”.
Likewise, the manager admitted that alter studying his rival, he expect that Zaragoza will exploit Mallorca ’s impatience. “They are gonna wait for us in their side of the pitch and go for the counterattack. They’re a good side, very well structured, they wait for the rival to push deep and lead the counter-attacks pretty well exploiting their opponent’s weaknesses”.
Vazquez wants some of his players to ‘take a step forward’, not only at collective level. “I want them to stand out individually, I want them to do things that fans talk about. The team’s hyped up and gelled together. We compete well, but that is not enough. They should draw attention – that is the difference between getting a draw or winning”.
Lastly, he vowed for the unity of the environment and the team because while the main move forward is to be made by the players themselves, “if the team is more reliable, more confidence is contaminated onto the crowd. I work for the fans to get behind the team, to be moved.”
