Vicente Moreno: ‘It’s very important the three points stay at home’
The boss spoke to journalists via video call ahead of our hosting of fellow relegation battlers CD Leganés
Vicente Moreno says the tiniest of details could decide our clash with CD Leganés as we look to escape the bottom three.
With the visitors sitting bottom of the table just two points behind us in 18th position, the boss is well aware of the gravity Friday evening’s fixture has.
"The match will be decided by the smallest details, like most matches,” he told journalists at a pre-match press conference via video call. “We're going to face a team that's going to make it very difficult for us. They have a high standard of players who can match us and will be looking for the same as us, also. Like us, there’s going to give it their all.
"We'd like to end the day out of the relegation zone as that would mean we won the game. It's always important if you win to look at the results of the others, but we’ve got to win.”
After our hosting of CD Leganés, just eight games will remain of the season and Moreno says points are of the highest value in our fight for survival despite an encouraging performance against CF Villarreal earlier on in the week.
“There are fewer and fewer matchdays left and the opponents will not always fail,” he continued. “It would be very important for tomorrow's points to stay here. If we win, it doesn’t mean we achieved anything, but there's no doubt that there are still matchdays left.
"With all it’s difficulties, being where we are against teams of that level and in this competition has a lot of merit. The other day against Villarreal was us hitting the crossbar twice, being in front of the goalkeeper and missing the target and then letting the opponent break through just twice and score against you. They are the details that determine a result and how a match will go.”
