Vicente Moreno: ‘Villarreal are one of the best but we are motivated to win’
The manager spoke to the assembled press ahead of our hosting of El Submarino Amarillo this Sunda
Vicente Moreno says his squad is raring to test themselves against “one of the best” teams in La Liga ahead of Villarreal’s visit to Son Moix this Sunday.
The Castellón side are one of the highest scores in the division so far this season with 25 goals in 12 games, but according to the boss, no team is unbeatable.
“We are playing against one of the best teams in the division in terms of quality and hard work - a result of the coaching staff - but we want to win and we are motivated to make sure things go the best way possible,” he told assembled journalists at his pre-match press conference. "If you look at Villarreal’s squad, there are players that are internationals, or those that have been, and being one of the highest scorers, we have to exploit the things they don’t do so well.
“When a team wants to come here and take the initiative, that gives you idea that things can be wrong and the opponent hurts you, but as well, that happens to us so it’s difficult to speculate which way things will go. What preoccupies me the most every day is that every week we see the situation improves, and by focusing on that, it translates into a better scoreline.
Salva Sevilla will unfortunately miss the fixture due to suspension, although Moreno says he has faith others will step up in his absence.
“We have more players in the squad, and it’s how football goes,” he said. “Salva has been very important to our promotions and that remains today, but when we haven’t had him we have won as well. We will miss him but when he has been suspended we have also done well.”
