RCD Mallorca visits Cala Major for a beach clean up

We joined Unió de Penyes at the beach as part of a wider programme to keep our beaches clean

We joined Unió de Penyes this Friday for a beach clean up and waste collection day at Cala Major in Palma as part of the Mares Circulares (Circular Seas) programme promoted by Coca Cola.

All the waste collected has been classified for recycling and the data obtained will be collected, analysed and incorporated into the project's database.

This information, which is in addition to the monitoring at 80 points and regular collection since the first edition in 2018, is subsequently made available to researchers and scientists for the development of new innovative proposals that have a real impact on the conservation of marine environments.

Mares Circulares is an initiative to clean up coasts and seabeds, raise awareness and promote Coca-Cola's circular economy in Spain and Portugal and includes the collaboration of the associations Chelonia and Vertidos Cero, the Ecomar Foundation, Fundación Aula del Mar Mediterráneo; Liga para a Protecção da Natureza (LPN), as well as the General Secretariat of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

RCD Mallorca, as part of its sustainability project and together with its goal of achieving zero waste at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix, promotes the protection of the biodiversity of our ecosystem on the island of Mallorca, where the care of the marine environment and the preservation of marine resources is fundamental.
