Match Report: RCD Mallorca 2-1 Valencia CF

Goals from Cyle Larin and Abdon Prats either side of half-time gives us the three points

Goals from Cyle Larin and Abdon Prats either side of half-time saw us come from behind to beat Valencia CF 2-1 at Son Moix.

Jagoba Arrasate continued with Mateu Morey at right back while Larin returned to the central striker role in the place of the suspended Vedat Muriqi.

Larin would have our first opportunity of the game in the 18th minute when he climbed highest to meet a whipped cross, but his header was off target and went wide of the post.

Luis Rioja gave the visitors the lead when he converted from the spot in the 32nd minute after Johan Mojica was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box following a VAR review.

We looked for an instant response and almost found one when Larin managed to make space for himself on the edge of the box and test Giorgi Mamardashvili four minutes later.

Our striker would not need another invitation as in 48th minute Larin raced ahead of his marker to meet Dani Rodríguez’s driven cross following a quick counter attack.

Robert Navarro looked to build on our equaliser after the restart, although his effort in the 57th minute was high and wide of the target.

We found the winner in the 81st minute when substitute Abdon ghosted into the box to head home Sergi Darder’s floated cross.

Dani Gomez would give us a late scare when he attempted to flick a low cross goalwards with less than 30 seconds on the clock, but we held onto to take all three points.
