A late goal for the visitors sees the points shared after Kang-In Lee’s opener
A late Inaki Williams penalty cancelled out Kang-In Lee’s second-half strike as we shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
The goalscorer and Vedat Muriqi returned to the starting XI after they were rested midweek against Atletico Madrid.
Chances were few and far between during the first 45 minutes as we were reduced to half chances and second balls from set pieces.
Paredes came closest to separating the two sides minutes before the break when he climbed highest to meet a whipped free-kick, although it was a straight forward save for Predrag Rajkovic.
There was to be some VAR drama after the restart, although a review soon outlined that Jaume Costa had not handled in the box.
Muriqi had our first real opportunity of the game in the 52nd minute when he capitalised on a defence error, but the on-rushing Aguirrezabala blocked his attempt.
Amath struck the woodwork from an impossible angle two minutes later as we continued to pile on the pressure.
We found the break through during an impressive run of play in the 58th minute when Muriqi hounded down a loose ball, teed up Kang-In Lee who fired home past the back-pedaling Aguirrezabala.
The visitors threw everything possible at us in the closing stages of the game and got their reward in injury time when Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta was adjudged to have handled in the box.
With Antonio Raíllo receiving his marching orders in the aftermath, Williams compounded a frustrating end to the game by finding the back of the net.
