Amath Ndiaye: We are only thinking about Getafe now

Find out what our forward had to say ahead of our clash this Sunday

Amath Ndiaye could not be happier.

The player scored the winning goal against RC Celta Vigo and helped the team to win again away from home this season.

A victory edges us closer to survival and allowed the Senegalese to score his second goal this season – something he won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

"The other day I was talking to Manu (Morlanes) and he told me if I have a knack for getting chances,” Amath said. “I don't know, they were falling on me and the other day I missed three and this time I had three and scored one, but luckily we won one-nil.

But we have to be more focused in front of goal and improve a lot and when we have this, try to score the first one. I am happy for the goal and for the victory and to score.

"We knew that before the break we were doing very well and that was our dynamic to keep working without giving up. It is true that the results did not help, but the team has always been believing until now and until it came to us.

The other day in Valladolid it couldn't be, but we won against RC Celta Vigo, and now we are more prepared than ever. I wouldn't say that we are calm because we always want to score."

Having scored the only goal of the game our forward celebrated with the boss and explained why he headed straight to Javier Aguirre.

“It was the week against Valladolid, (Aguirre) was telling me that 'when you score, don't come and hug me,’ and I said, 'Well, yes. And there the goal didn't come and against Celta it did and I went to hug him, first Tino and then him. I saw him when he went to the bench and he did that with his hand... But I had a calm mind and I told him: 'Calm down', first to Tino and then to you’.”

Amath will face his former side Getafe this Sunday and will be hoping to have a similar impact.

"Yes, it's a special match, because in the end it's the club I left to come to RCD Mallorca and these matches are always special for a player. Now we are only thinking about Getafe and we will go for the victory, which is at home, with our fans, our people and we are very well. And I think that now we don't have to think about anything other than winning. We will go for the three points.”
