Dani Rodríguez, Greif, Mascarell and Jagoba Arrasate assess the match against Real Madrid

Find out what the boss and our players had to say about the defeat in Saudi Arabia.

Dani Rodríguez, Dominik Greif, Omar Mascarell and Jagoba Arrasate spoke to the media after our 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Find out what the players and the boss had to say below:

Dani Rodríguez:

On the result: We shouldn't be guided by the result, the team's sensations having played against Real Madrid are not bad, we lacked accuracy which is what makes the difference in these games.

On the first goal: It hurt because in the game plan against a team like Real Madrid it's always a priority to keep a clean sheet. They are very dangerous when they take the lead.

On leaving with a head held high: It's my seventh season here, we come from where we come from and we have to be as realistic as possible. We have to enjoy what we're going through and I'm enjoying it very much, although it's a shame because we were so excited about reaching another final. I'm happy with the work, the team gave their all.

On his personal feelings: I would have liked us to have played in Spain. It's a shame because I think it would have been in a different atmosphere. As nice as the Cup final was with all the travelling Mallorquinistas, this experience would have been incredible to live it there. You enjoy it in your own way, my family and my children travelled.

Dominik Greif:

On the match:  We have bad feelings losing in the end by three goals is not nice. To concede two goals in added time hurts a lot.

On the result: Yes, at the end you open up the game a bit to score but with space these players are very good.

On his personal feelings: I enjoyed it, I like it when I have work to do and I can help the team. As I said it hurts me because three goals to nil is too much.

On leaving with a head held high: We have to focus on La Liga which is what awaits us now.

Omar Mascarell:

On the match: I speak a little on behalf of the team when I say that we leave a little sore, especially at the end of the game. The team competed very well and the result would have been much better. We played against a great opponent and it's normal for them to create chances. Now we have to move on to the next round, which is the second half.

On the second half: We came on very well, that's when we were at our best and it just went in and they scored the first goal. After the goal the team switched off a bit, especially in the last few minutes.

On leaving with a head held high: We came with the illusion of going through to the final, I think the team fought hard but it wasn't possible. We came from a hard blow but today's defeat has nothing to do with it. We are on the right track and we have to continue like this in the league.

On the fans: We know that a lot of people would have liked to come and be here with us. I'm sure that from the island they have given us a lot of support as always. I want to say thank you very much and be proud of this team.

Jagoba Arrasate:

On the game: It's a shame, it spoils the end of the game a little bit. We had our chances, especially in the first half, with those two chances by Larin. The team was very good and very well organised. The goal hurt us and from then on Madrid were superior. The result doesn't show how evenly matched the game was.

On offensive efficiency: In this type of game you need to be on target, to be efficient and we didn't have that in the two or three chances we had.

On leaving with a head held high: The team gave everything and you can't say anything in that respect. We have to keep going, we have a very exciting second half of the season ahead of us and if we improve we can have a second half like the first.
