Javier Aguirre: We want to make our numbers better
The boss looked ahead to our trip to UD Almeria this Saturday
Javier Aguirre says he wants to see his side improve their standing in the table as we head to UD Almería on Saturday afternoon.
Having secured LaLiga football for another season last week, Aguirre now wants his side to kick on and get as many points as possible from the final few games.
"We have taken a weight off our shoulders, but I reiterate that we are not going to give anything away,” he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “We want to improve our numbers. We want to provide arguments for people to look at Mallorca as a team that has improved from one year to the next.
"We are a serious team until the end, no matter who the opponent is. We will try to win with our way of playing and our chance. From that point on, we will play with everything we have against UD Almería, let nobody have any doubts. We will make it difficult for them. They are playing for their lives, I understand that, and we are also playing for things.”
With a possible six absentees in on Antonio Raíllo, Manu Morlanes, Jaume Costa, Galarreta, Nastasić and Augustinsson, the boss will call up academy stars Luis Montiel, Llabrés, Gayà and Marcos Fernández.
"Morlanes is out at the last minute and I'm worried because there are many casualties. Raíllo, Galarreta, and Morlanes are all out with bruises. They are strong bruises due to the intensity they put into training. We haven't recovered Augustinsson either. To this list we have to add the muscular injuries to Nastasic and Jaume Costa, which leaves us with six really important absentees.”
