Javier Aguirre: We want to get the win against Cádiz CF
The boss looked ahead to our clash with Cádiz FC
Javier Aguirre says he and his side are keen to mathematically secure our place in LaLiga for another season ahead of our hosting of Cádiz CF.
We can ensure we will be a LaLiga team for another season with a win against this Friday’s visitors, although the boss believes it won’t be an easy evening at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
"They are a direct rival with whom we are playing for the future. I have a special appreciation for Sergio González because we worked together at Espanyol, when I was in the first team and he was in the B team.
"I expect a match of many individual duels. They are a very physical team. There will play long balls; a lot of aerial competition and many battles. It will demand a lot of physical work. It won't be a high-scoring game, certainly not. We are not teams that open up a lot to play football. I expect a close match with a lot of fighting.
“We play every game thinking about winning it. We want to score as many points as possible and move away from the bottom three, that has been our goal since the league started. We won’t relax - we want to win tomorrow. We will go out to win tomorrow, for sure and then we'll wait to see if it's enough for us and if not, we'll keep going.”
Antonio Raíllo, Ludwig Augustinsson, Gio González and Matija Nastasić will be absent from the matchday squad due to injury, meaning the boss will be giving a chance to academy player Marcos Fernández.
"We have four defenders out. We are in the picture. Antonio Sánchez has helped us out and Dennis has played four games in 10 days. The defensive part is the weakest. The season is a very long 38 matches and we have to try to stay in La Liga with the players we have.”
