The boss spoke with players, directors and coaches at his farewell ceremony
Javier Aguirre was joined by players, coaches and directors as we held a private farewell ceremony for our departing boss.
In attendance was sporting director Pablo Ortells and CEO of business Alfonso Diaz, as well as Aguirre's assistants Toni Amor and Pol Lorente who will also be leading the club.
Ortells said: “He left his mark on the club and will always be present with us and in our hearts. The three of you have been great professionals on a daily basis, but I also want to highlight your human qualities.
"You came at a very complicated time, there were nine rounds left and I am very happy and proud to have contacted you. You took a step forward because you accepted the challenge with full conviction.
Ortells ended his speech by wishing our departing coaches the best of luck and outlining that RCD Mallorca will always be Javier Aguirre’s home.
Diaz said: "great professionals, but above all, the great people, and I say this on behalf of all of us who are part of the club and also on behalf of Andy Kohlberg.
“You leave a legacy that will remain here and this is the legacy he leaves behind as a person and as a professional. This is your home. May the future bring you great success.”
Javier Aguirre thanked staff for the farewell ceremony he has not previously experienced and said: "When I have left the clubs I have done it just as I arrived - without making noise.
"In the end what remains is the work, the friendships and that someday I can return here and that the fans welcome me back - the warmth of the fans, the respect of Pablo and Alfonso, the affection of those present..."
Emotional at the end of his speech, Aguirre said: "I don't want to break down. I'm going to hold it together. Thank you all, really."
