LaLiga hosted a General Assembly

Javier Tebas, the LaLiga President, lead the meeting attended by representives from Liga and Liga2 clubs

This past Thursday, the LaLiga headquarters hosted a General Assembly. The meeting was attended by representatives of the clubs from LaLiga and LaLiga2, with the exception of Sevilla FC and Sevilla Atlético, who delegated their votes beforehand, and RC Celta de Vigo. The meeting was highlighted by the presence of Málaga CF President, Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani, who LaLiga President Javier Tebas thanked for attending.

This Assembly served many purposes, one of which was to welcome the clubs to the LaLiga2 who had not competed there before: UCAM Murcia CF, CF Reus, and Cádiz CF. Moreover, the Assembly allowed LaLiga to dispurse the strategic plan for the next three seasons, as well as the new organizational hierarchy of league, which was presented to Vicente Casado, LaLiga´s new Director of International Development.

Additionally, LaLiga´s Director of Women´s Soccer, Pedro Malabria, distributed a report to the attendees about the advances made in women´s soccer made possible by LaLiga. That report stated that the clubs from the Women´s Primera Division have increased their overall social media following by some 35%. LaLiga will continue to collaborate with those female clubs, supporting their establishment, operation, and implementation of sound corporate ethics. Javier Tebas took this opportunity to honor Cadiz CF who announced the creation of women´s team.

Furthermore, this Assembly served to pass statutory reforms regarding: Articles 28 and 34 of the Structural Statutes, and Articles 3 and 18 of Book III, both relating to the general regulations and requirements for the nomination of a President, Vicepresident, and Club Representatives to the LaLiga Executive Committee. The clubs voted in favor of revising the prerequisites of serving on the Executive Committee to require that a committee-member be a citizen of a country in the European Union.

And, the Assembly passed the modification of Article 42, Book XIII, of the Statutes relating to a Judge´s powers over the regulation of TV broadcasting. This Judge will be the sole body responsible for resolving any dispute or appeal by the affiliated Clubs against the decision of the body controlling the audio and visual rights provided for in the TV broadcasting agreement.
